“Good Morning WJPS,” said Principal Dr. Werner on September 14th, 2021.
Before the first week of school, many WJPS students had not been back in the building since March of 2020.
For freshmen, it was the first of many good morning speeches they’d hear throughout their high school career.
WJPS freshmen, Sophia Provenzano and Athena Porter, said, “It was really hard to concentrate while remote.”
However, Provenzano and Porter equally showed interest in now being freshmen despite the feeling of “still feeling like middle schoolers.”
Even some upperclassmen still feel new.
Dayssy Acuahuitl, a WJPS junior, said, “I left as a freshman and came back as a junior. The thought and feeling of returning as an upperclassman is unreal.”
Similarly, WJPS senior, Lianna Zuvich said, “The feeling of being back is unreal, and I’m excited to have a somewhat normal year.”
On the other side, WJPS juniors, Jamielynn Davide and Abigail Luque said, “it is unreal how teachers are on top of you for doing work now back virtually.”
Now, WJPS is trying its hardest to help everyone adjust to this new way of learning to ensure safety and discipline while making the most of the time everyone has left.
Let it be the last few months for the seniors, the last few years for the sophomores, juniors and freshmen, and of course the young middle schoolers.
